An award-winning restauranteur & businessman with a unique personal brand. John has extensive experience in the catering business, including 30 years spent as founder/owner and Managing Director of the Ma Cuisine chain.
John has a strong set of practical leadership and business skills, including communication, decision-making, problem-solving and financial planning.
As a business owner he has overseen the design of all his restaurants, hired and managed staff. He has overseen all aspects of the financial accounts closely from P&L, payroll to audits, marketing & PR and of course working closely with his head chefs to create top quality menus.
With a thorough understanding of luxury Michelin-starred restaurants and French bistros, John demands and achieves very high standards from his teams. Working from the floor up he has a 360-degree perspective of the restaurant business with a strong commitment to developing both the business and the talent within a team.
John has been cooking in some of the UK’s top restaurants and hotels for over 40 years. Having started his professional career training in the iconic kitchens of the Glen Eagles Hotel in Scotland, going on to open several restaurants across London, one of which gained the much coveted Michelin star and 3 AA rosettes, plus a successful chain of restaurants winning many awards including a Michelin Bib Gourmand and the Evening Standard French Restaurant of The Year award.
